Alisa's earliest memory:

I remember standing with my dad and younger sister at our sliding glass window during a thunderstorm. All of us would wait there until the thunder boomed and then we'd run away screaming and laughing through the house to circle back around to wait for the next peal of thunder.

Mari's earliest memory:

Faking falling asleep so my dad could carry me and I wouldn't have to walk at my cousin's graduation.

Brian's earliest memory:


Lying in my crib in the dark, with the light to the hall on. I might have needed a change.

Erica's earliest memory:

Sitting in the basement of our old house listening to Gene Hart call a Flyers game. (Apparently all our family did in the '70s was listen to Flyers games in the basement.)

Amy's earliest memory:

Posing for a picture with my neighbors while one neighbor's dog (of which I was deathly frightened) barked at me wildly from a few feet away and I wished my mom would hurry up and take the picture.

Rob McK's earliest memory:


Sitting in a Winnie the Pooh rocking chair wearing a diaper and T-shirt watching a Flyers game with my dad. Every time he'd yell "Score!", I'd raise my arms and yell "Score!", but had no idea why I was doing it. I kind of know now.

Staring at the furniture in my bedroom as I was trying to fall asleep.

Playing around in one of these in the breakfast room. The bouncing was fun, but I couldn't reach a ball of some sort.

I really really wanted a Rainbow Brite set of toys for Christmas, and then on Christmas morning I found that Santa Claus had brought me a Rainbow Brite set of underwear instead. My parents told me Santa must have gotten confused.

Eating chocolate eclairs with my aunt while waiting for my brother to be born.

I remember knocking a Thermos of boiling water on my head and having to go to the hospital.

I was walking along outside my house when my neighbor asked me how old I was. I remember holding up two fingers, suddenly getting shy, and running back inside the house.

Throwing a hissy fit in the supermarket until my parents bought me a large stuffed rabbit. I didn't want to leave her because she was lonely.

Sitting in the back seat of my parents' black Dodge.

Playing with a litter of puppies while sitting in a pile of sawdust in my father's woodworking shop.

Sitting on a loft in my NJ house, finding an unopened piece of 5-cent bubble gum.

My grandfather taking me shopping at some huge mega-store and buying me a toy truck.

Moving my desk next to another kid's desk in kindergarten. I remember thinking that it meant we were now friends.

Ethan's earliest memory:

Finding my dad's pipe in his bedside table while my mom vacuumed. When I brought this up with my parents recently, they were puzzled, since my dad never smoked a pipe. Then they remembered he did have a pipe, but not a tobacco pipe.

Stomping on a pillar somewhere in Taiwan.

Mike's earliest memory:


Trying to tie my shoe in a cab on the way to the airport to either pick up or drop off my grandmother.

I'm looking at the tropical fish my dad raised, and a Flyers game is on the radio in the background.
